Tragically, gender discrimination and poverty make millions of young women the victims of violence every day. Education gives girls a chance to become economically self sufficient and equips them to fight oppression. This one change has the power to improve the lives of girls, their families and their communities.
Funding education for girls is considered one of the most effective factors in long-term change. But at KEEP we believe that is only half the need. It’s part of our core philosophy to create a personal connection with the girls we support, letting them know that people half a world away care about their success.
What We Do
From 2011 to 2014, KEEP supporters raised more than $44,000 to support the education and protection of 160 at-risk girls in rural India. In 2014, we began providing tuition for the class of 2018 at the Kakenya Center for Excellence. a boarding school in Kenya. Through education, these girls are becoming catalysts for change.
Kakenya is coming to Katonah! Join us at the Katonah Village Library on November 3, 2016 at 7:30PM.
